Vegetables update

Blog

All the broad beans and peas have now been planted outside and I’ve started to tie the broad beans to their stakes. The climbing French beans have been planted outside and I’ve put ‘slug gone’ wool pellets around the base of each plant to protect them against slugs and snails. I’ve used this for a couple of years now and it works well. I don’t use slug pellets as I’m concerned about the effect that they might have on other wildlife.

The asparagus has been extremely tasty. I steam mine for a few minutes.

The tomatoes, sweet peppers, chillies and melons are almost ready to be potted up into their final pots.

I’ve received the plug plants of the broccoli and brussels sprouts and I’ve planted these up into small pots. They will be planted into the raised bed when I have harvested the onions and garlic.

My plant of the month is Wisteria
